Constructive meeting between President Zelensky and Prime Minister Støre

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre had a meeting yesterday at the military terminal of Oslo Airport Gardermoen yesterday.

‘Intensive political and diplomatic efforts aimed at making progress towards a ceasefire and peace negotiations in Ukraine are under way. Norway must work with other European countries to ensure that Ukraine is in the strongest position possible before, during and after a potential ceasefire. President Zelensky and I had a useful discussion about how we can best provide assistance to Ukraine in both the short term and the long term,’ said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

President Zelensky is currently visiting a number of countries in Europe and stopped in Oslo for a meeting with Prime Minister Støre. Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska and Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha are also in Oslo and have a separate programme.

‘Norway stands together with Ukraine in the effort to achieve a lasting and just peace. We have made it clear that Norway remains committed to providing long-term political, economic and military support to Ukraine. It is crucial to maintain a close dialogue with Ukraine to ensure that we can target our support to the areas where the needs are greatest,’ said Mr Støre.
